Current Genesys Certifications - Expiry Date?
« on: October 12, 2015, 12:34:22 PM »
Hi,

Apart from the obvious commercial aspect, does anyone know the reason why Genesys Certification on pretty much any subject has an Expiry Date?

...and do you have to erase your memory at that point?

Because they have new options and products, so our old certificates that demonstrates we are ok with knowledge on them and we studied.
My CIV 7 is useless if I try to demonstrate by documents that I know about new 8.5 LRM for example...
Just that I guess

OK....

So the assumption from Genesys is that any paid-for qualifications have a "shelf life" of exactly 12 months from the point of attaining it - otherwise they are no longer considered current?  I guess that would work if there was a seismic shift of technologies every 12 months - but there isn't.

I understand that certification in previous versions would become obsolete, over time - but it looks like you have to renew your certs every 12 months, for them to be valid(?)

I guess, what I am saying, is; as long as the (current) release/version remains the same as the one you qualified for, the certificate should remain valid.  But that doesn't seem to be the case.

Erm....from where you get that it has only 12 month for valid time? I just got one from BEP and is 2 years.
2 years I believe does cover perfectly each Gen release...doesn't it?

Over on LinkedIn, someone published a copy of their certificate (not sure which one) - expires in 12 months from date of issue...

  • I am actually considering it.  But not if the certificate itself has a "use by..." date.

I doubt that customers will care on that, they just wanna know your level... And even that certificate is not a proof of it, how many certificated people you see around who has no clue on many stuff...so, I'd say, do it but just as a card to show your knowledge to customers. Of course, customers that are not very aware on what to seek.
    Good luck!!

In the real world cert status probably has more impact when looking at Genesys Partner levels.  For a reseller/implementor to be recognised at a certain level, they need to have x numbers of people qualified in each Genesys solution.

Ah of course, we gain a level according to each certification level we have. The more products you are certified you earn new badges.
But as Adam states, one-year certification would be ridiculous

Thanks - maybe it was a unique/particular course result that expires in 12 months which I saw.  I don't recall the actual subject.
