LRM not but you may need ICON and then you need license for ICON.
LRM is also dependant of CfgServer version

I seem to recall ICON isn't licensed - the licensing requirements come from GIM/GI2.  Although I don't recall if ICON may still need a commercial license though.

Interesting tidbit about LRM... I was told by support last week that LRM is no longer required to run 8.5 Framework, and there is going to be no further development for the product.  Meaning if a bug is found that requires code changes to fix, it wont be fixed.

No longer required?  Is there an article that covers which apps from which versions don't look for it?  Is it all just going back to FlexLM and they're forgetting the whole reporting concept?
Or is this covered in the other thread?

I found and downloaded a file named cs_manager, but after setup this doesnt look to be the floating license manager.

FlexLM was and will always be part of licensing engine.
For Reporting, LRM was Genesys proposal but as there are other more mature developments Genesys adopted one and discarded their LRM. Just that

LRM was originally intended for larger deployments with resale capabilities and is/was supplemental to FlexLM.  The idea was that a re-seller could also determine/report on licenses in use/allocated to multiple different clients, for billing purposes.  I guess, with so many build capabilities (Cloud, Hybrid, Enterprise) there's not so much call for it, now.  Of course, if you need it's reporting capabilities, there are other ways...  ::)

I suppose it would be useful to have a "full suite" infographic of the elements which require licensing - and how they are operated/administered.  But I've not seen one...

1. Yes
2. No

Check LRM guides and their components guides as well.

As far as I understand from LRM Deployment Guide, ICON DB is needed for agent license usage statistics  and GVP reporting in order take statistics of GVP ports usage.

So, if we don't have ICON and GVP installed in our environment then LRM application is not for us .. Right ?

However, as per document - Configuration server is required 8.1.XX for LRM 8.1 and Configuration Server 8.5.XX for LRM 8.5.

Please advise if I a am wrong.
