LRM 8.1/8.5
« on: April 09, 2014, 03:17:54 PM »
Hello,

is anyone using License reporting manager?
Is it useful for customers?
We are considering but want to determine and weigh the benefits against a potential requirement to upgrade everything.

thanks.

Hi there!
We try to offer LRM to our customer to solve the day-by-day license monitoring task. But in current version it's useless for real-time and operativ monitoring. At the same time, historical view have also some problem in use coz it's count only limited product list. So it's looks like a good idea but need some time to wait when Genesys is step away from FLEX.

It is mandatory if you are upgrading to Framework 8.5
LRM has to connect to confserv at least 1 time or else confserv won't accept any connections from clients.

i think it will be bundled in Framework from now on.
The idea is to keep track of Genesys License in new ways, not just numbers (how many) but also functionality like GVP and Genesys Media Server.

Configuration Server will exit due to invalid license

I try to install LRM
Installing License Reporting Manager, version 8.5.000.06

Please enter the hostname or press enter for "myhost" =>

Please enter the following information about your Configuration Server:

Configuration Server Hostname =>config server host
Network port =>2020
User name =>default
Password =>

Client Side Port Configuration
Select the option below to use a Client Side Port. If you select this option,
the application can use Client Side Port number for initial connection to
Configuration Server.

Do you want to use Client Side Port option (y/n)?n

Invalid host (myhost) or port (2020) for Configuration Server connection.

You have to import license to config database now in version 8.5. Use command

confserv -license <path to license file>

Yes, I installed it. Just to enable applications to connect to configuration server on startup. Not using LRM functionality itself.

You have to start your confserv with argument "-license <path_to_the_license_file>" as first. It is described in deployment guide.
