Best Reporting tool for Genesys
« on: May 25, 2010, 07:14:31 PM »
Hello,

Just an add on to a previous post, what is everyones opinion of the best reporting tool for Genesys?

We have used Hyperion (8.5) and Crystal Reports v10 (or business objects).

I have found Crystal to be better however this could be more due to limited knowledge of Hyperion.

Thanks,
WA

Hyperion is very complicated and not very user friendly, its lack of SQL flexibility is one of its biggest problems.

Hi,

Any product which does not have Brio or Hyperion as part of the name is an excellent product!  ;D

hehehe.... I think that anything is possible when using standard BI Enterprise reporting tools and it is down to your own knowledge and use of PL SQL, etc. that will get you the results you want.

I've been playing with Hyperion (Brio) for quite a few years and whilst it does sometimes frustrate me in not being able to do some very simple things (trying to produce Totals and Averages and Mean Averages across data sources, etc.) it is "ok" if you want basic reporting.  The GUI is intuitive but the "GIS" sections lack a lot of functionality.

With Business Objects you can at least add Universes (BOU's) so, if you wanted to pull in external data or data from various sources, it makes it easier for you - and the outputs are a little easier to handle, too.

Yes, I think this is the real proof that it is not really mentally healthy to do development in Hyperion for longer time. :)
