sip server does not start on host reboot
« on: September 07, 2021, 10:40:48 PM »
Dear expert friends, I hope you are well, I am facing a problem:

It happens that we perform an update of the sip server component (from 8.1.103.10 to 8.1.104.28) but when the server is restarted this component does not start automatically, but if manually, in the log it does not show an indication of failure, it operates with Normally, but when we want to restart the host, this component does not start, its status is STOP.

Could you give me some scope please, I thank you very much for your time.

Linux? Windows?
What does logs show?
If Windows, what does EventViewer shows?
If Linux, anything at messages logs?

Thanks for your answer Cavagnaro, I need to detail: the OS is Windows Server 2012 R2, when fixing the system events, the following actually appears:

Warning:
The server service was unable to recreate the share IP_TSrvSIP64_8110310b1_ENU_windows because the directory F: \ Installers \ Genesys 8.5 Installers \ Sip Server \ IP_TSrvSIP64_8110310b1_ENU_windows no longer exists. Please run "net share IP_TSrvSIP64_8110310b1_ENU_windows / delete" to delete the share, or recreate the directory F: \ Installers \ Genesys 8.5 Installers \ Sip Server \ IP_TSrvSIP64_8110310b1_ENU_windows.

What is not clear to me is: because it refers to a directory that no longer exists on that unit? It also indicates the previous version of the sip server that is no longer there.

I appreciate your time and comments Cavagnaro.

Thanks

I would suggest to a reinstallation.

Reboot server
Stop service (if started)
Uninstall
Reboot
Install
Check startup via services.msc (service should be automatic)

You are facing a Windows issue, not a Genesys one.
The installation/upgrade process seems to be done bad.

Always install from a local folder, not a remote.

Thank you very much for the advice Cavagnaro, you are a success, I had not really thought about reinstalling the application, it makes a lot of sense what you mention, but it is weird because the installers were on a fixed path on the same server.

Thanks

Maybe it is worth to add that we can not use automatic services in case if we have redundant pair of configuration servers. Application will not start if confserv standby instance took the primary role. We can use automatic services for configuration server, SCS, LCA, GAX and Pulse. These applications have information about both configuration servers in config files (except LCA, it does not need it).
Other applications should start by Management Layer (SCS + LCA). It will always use startup command with the right confserv in it.
We have several options:
1) We can set autostart option (https://docs.genesys.com/Documentation/FR/Current/MLUG/StSpAppSols)
2) We can enable Auto Restart for Application. When SCS loses connection to a host (LCA) and reconnects (for example, if host was restarted), it will start any applications that were running at the time of the disconnect.
3) We can create Solution and use mlcmd utility to start it after server is started (https://docs.genesys.com/Documentation/FR/Current/MLUG/mlcmdCLI)
