SIP Server Connection for Agents Behind NAT

Dear all,

We are trying to connect to the Genesys SIP Server from the client that is behind NAT Network.
But we are unable to hear the sound, I have google it and found that we need a NAT Traversal inside our sip server.
Could anyone help us about how to configure the Genesys SIP Server, to able to communicate with the clients.

Hendro,

Genesys SIP Server doesn't support NAT Traversal in current version. You need third-party SIP/RTP proxy or establishing a VPN connection between endpoint and SIP Server.

Oh, boy, this one is giving me a real pain. All I could come up with was:

1. use VPN
2. NAT transversal
3. if you are using RTC and you have your own code, you can add a function to allow you to do this, but it needs some major programming and head scratching since MS no longer supports it.

I also just got the same answer from the support. And it looks like we need to use the third party NAT transversal.
Could you advise any recommended products for this NAT transversal solution?, I mean the genesys compatible or tested one.

I have tried to download and use the sip proxy, but still won't connect to the genesys server.
Is there any setting that I need to config inside the Genesys T-Server SIP to use  the sip proxy.

Hi Hendro,

I have to repeat myself again that it isn't easy to answer your question without knowledge of your environment. Generally, there is no need to configure anything on SIP Server side when using SIP Proxy in NAT Traversal mode. In fact NAT Traversal proxy should be invisible for any SIP party as it "only" translates the IP addresses in SIP headers.

Could you post here more information about your environment or some logs? Are you able to connect SIP Server and establish a call using SIP client on the same network subnet = no firewall/proxy etc. between SIP Server and the client?

Usually this implementations are done by someone who has experience with this issue as Renč said, it is hard to help without being at the site. Maybe you was assigned to this mission and have no idea on how SIP works, I believe we can help until some point. Reading and documenting yourself is the best way for you to solve your issues.

I agree with Rene' and Vic, need a lot more info before recommending anything.

Having said that, Genesys pretty much is clueless about anything Cisco, but does have some internal experience with AcmePacket. And forget any help with anything Open Source.
