Oracle and 6.5

Hi,

has anyone experienced slow ORacle DB response times when using Genesys 6.5? We have just mograted a site from 5.1.5 to 6.5 and it seems like Oracle 8.1.7 is not doing as well. Obviously, we have some extra connections because of the Message Server, but it could hardly be the reason we are running it on Sun 250R with 4 CPUs and 4 Gigs of RAM...

any thoughts?

  • We are running Gv6.5 using Oracle 8.1.7 and have not had any response issues with Oracle. We are running on Sun 420R's..

We have the same problem, but in the version 5.1.5, and we don't know where is the problem.

We've been using Oracle 8.1.6 (running MTS) with both Genesys 5.1 and 6.1 suites with no real performance issues. Things which we've found worth checking out.....

is the problem actually with Oracle or is it a bottleneck with your DB Servers...if you are running several components through a single DB Server during busy periods this can cause issues.

However if this is not the case then get your DBA to check out the shared pool for reuse of statements. We had a problem about 2 years ago where we discovered our Genesys installation was missing a vital index on one of its queries.

    Hope this helps
