Strategies uploading

Hi All,

we are planning to upgarde our our urs and IRD from 7.2 to 7.6. as we have 2 urs and irds, we are plannning to upgrade one set and test it. In this process when we move to newer version,

1) do i have to move/load all the stragies manually or is there a process to load at once? or replicate at existing setup on newer version?

2) will there be any incompatibility issues for strategies when moved from 7.2 to 7.6? Do i need to change any URS or any other options

Hi,

1/ Information about loaded strategies are stored in Genesys configuration database (see Annex tab of Routing Point DNs) so existing configuration will be preserved if you do upgrade of URS only.

2/ It is highly recommended to re-compile all your strategies with new version of IRD. Please check as well the URS options that have been changed (e.g. new default value), added or removed to avoid any "surprises"

A little clarification, I am sorry i was not clear before. we have two environments 7.2 and 7.6.


Our initial plan was to upgrade urs 7.2 to 7.6. but now we are planning to just migrate just Routing Strategies built on 7.2 environmnet ( URS, IRD, GVP etc are 7.2) to already existing 7.6 URS and IRD. At this point do i need to load each strategy to IRD 7.6 from 7.2 and complie them??

2) do i need to create all the virtual switches, RP's etc that are present in IRD 7.2 again in 7.6 ? i mean in CME? I am not sure how to make this transition of Routing strategies from 7.2 to 7.6

3) I have installed genesys 7.6 on my machine. how to loggin to IRD 7.2 to see those RS

Hi yahoo,

If your 7.6 environment has been built from scratch (=new deployment) then you have to create all required objects (switches, DNs etc.), import and re-compile the strategies exported from 7.2 environment and load these on particular Routing Points. If you used configuration database from existing 7.2 environment when building your new 7.6 environment then the configuration (switches, RPs etc.) should be preserved.

To your 2nd question - IRD is routing strategy editor. Information about strategies are stored in Genesys configuration so you can connect to using IRD 7.2 to 7.6 environment. However, I do highly recommend you to use the same version of IRD as version of URS.

That made a lot of sense to me.

we upgraded/migrated. built new db, applied 7.6 scripts, migrated data from 7.2. path as per genesys recommendations. So we should be having all those configurations set up in 7.2 in 7.6 right?
