Well, I think that the proverbial "great minds think alike" can also be "xxxx minds think alike" as well!
Should I be worried?
The point of Quest and other projects is not to place an open source software into a call center, since I think it is going to be close to impossible to accomplish this to the very reasons you have stated.
What I do think is to create a basic framework that then can be used by every VAR and SIer to their hearts content. In other words, it is all about raising the awareness of SDK capability in terms of actually product that then can be branded into anything VAR desires. It would be naive for me to think that the products we generate here would not add up in some developer hands who would re-brand it and sell it as his own. And worry about this sort of behavior is probably the least of my concerns right now, since at the end of the day, we, as a Genesys community, benefit from it anyway. I think this forum is an excellent example of this - just think about the abundance of know-how that otherwise would be locked in each and every one of our heads. And the people who post questions here, like me, all make money from the answers on this forum. So why should development be any different?
I also think that by rolling these products online for free, we would also raise the bar for the other developers and VARs who till now were happy with just making CTI toolbars. The popup era has gone.
