Title: Social Messaging Internet connection
Post by: vma on June 10, 2014, 04:58:01 PM
Hello,
I'm preparing to install Social Messaging for the first time and I don't understand how exactly is SM Server connecting to the internet? What should I ask to the IT Administrator? What type of connection to the internet? What port?
Anyone can point where is this specified in the documentation?
Thanks,
Mihai

The plugins connect to FB or twitter api, so start by reading the deployment guides and understand the architecture...it is there. Then do a lab...

Trust me I have read the deployment guide. It has nothing but a reference to the web page describing the SM Server deployment but no info on what access to you really need to allow in network policy. As my client is a bank they want the minimum access that can be allowed.
From the FB driver I found: A network error occurred while trying to communicate with Facebook: Facebook request failed (HTTP status code null)
So what should I ask them to provide? HTTP access to facebook.com? is that all or need access some other page also?

Thanks,
Mihai

So, why you did not choose DMZ architecture for services such as facebook, twitter, chat and similiar communication to the "internet"?

So...first thing on my head:

Google search facebook API firewall
