Title: UPLOAD FUNCTIONALITY PLEASE
Post by: phil on May 12, 2010, 10:54:09 AM
Hi there ,

the upload functionality has been off for ages now. i would rly appreciate the forum owner(s) to reactivate upload at least for text/log files up to 5 or 10 mb. cutting  files copying and pasting the fragments of logs is very uncomfortable and annoying.

Cheers

Phil

Hi, Phil,

I would love to have this, but every time I enable it, our site gets hacked within three days!!! This seems to be a combination of my inexperience with Apache and SMF vulnerability. Last time I ended up hosting Bank of America and PayPal sites! I think it was fake, because when I asked BoFa to pay me a million dollars for hosting it, they ignored me... Plus I wonder if there is a BoFa branch in Nigeria....  ;D

But, seriously, sorry - I would love to, but I cannot....

I will try to come up with a solution hopefully next week involving rapidshare, perhaps?
Best regards,
Vic

Guys,

at this moment, I think RapidShare is the only way to go about this. I simply cannot enable uploads at this time, because within hours, people try URL and SQL injection tricks to try to execute code on the server. It is really frustrating and it takes me ages to remove all the new BoFa and PayPal websites that I end up hosting.

Sometimes I wonder if in fact I am PayPal and Bofa and somehow I just forgot about it!!!

But seriously, this is a very serious issue, and I totally understand the impact it is having on the community. I see that other forums out there using SMF and allow attachment postings, but I simply lack the experience and know-how necessary to implement it, I guess.

Does anyone out there know how to do it? I would certainly appreciate the help!

Best regards,
Vic

Hi Victor,

When I try to attach files to a post, I get the error 'The upload folder is full'. I would like to upload 4 zip of less then 1000 KB each.
How can I do this?

Thanks,
Luk

Hi,

I am not really keen on upload functionality, because there should no be a need to upload a log file except for the snippets.

Sorry, but otherwise we would have people just dumping the logs here all the time.
