Title: Agent creation
Post by: JTL on September 10, 2008, 12:33:32 PM
I know Genesys have the CIW, which can import agent data in XML format - but as far as I could see, it only supports a few fields.

Ideally, I would like to be able to import much more data, including the assignation of skills / agent IDs if possible.

Anyone written anything which expands on the CIW functionality in this way?

From the short time I've used the CIW it appears to be limited to updating person object fields where you don't need to select other CME objects like Logins or Skills.

For what you describe, I would think the Config.SDK may be better.

Well, we had a discussion here a while back about how much can Genesys ActiveX can be pushed and while Genesys did not document all the functionaliy - you can pretty much add anything you want to CME with it.

Have you looked into that? Because otherwise you would need Genesys Config SDK...

I would certainly be interested in anything which might replace the very very bad functionality provided by the Mass Update Wizard in CME... It's dire!

Armed with the GIS Configuration reference guide and a good xml editor, CIW is capable of some pretty astounding things really.  I worked on a project for a fruit company in Cupertino, California for a while and they were doing some pretty cool things with CIW to import huge amounts of agents and organize them into specific folders, etc.

EDIT: Essentially though, I would probably look at one of the available SDKs if you have them available to you.  The cost is, of course, a bit of a put-off if you don't use them for anything other than this.

Genesys ActiveX pretty much can do all of that, but I am pretty sure Genesys PROBABLY does not support it. I am not sure if it does. It does have reference to CFG in all of its ActiveX samples though...

Configuration SDK would be probably the best bet though, since it is something to replace ActiveX.
