<I hid this in another topic, so it is copied out here, for more "exposure"...>
I've finished my (very) Rough Guides to Genesys!
So, for anyone who needs to start at the beginning and for those who possibly don't have a clue about Genesys but would like a starting point, I've built up some (really) basic guide documents to;
Genesys Solutions
Genesys Framework
Genesys Configuration (including config server and CME)
Genesys Management (including SCS and SCI)
Genesys (Inbound Voice) Routing Solution (including URS and IRD)
Genesys Outbound (including OCS, CPD and OCM)
Genesys Real Time Reporting (including StatServer and CCPulse+)
Genesys Historical Reporting (including DMA, ETL, StatServer and Brio Enterprise Server (ODS and Broadcast Server and Brio Client (Designer))
Genesys Workforce Management (Framework and WfM Config Manager)
Genesys MCR (IXNServer, GAD and GSD - and very little about Content Analyzer)
My only "problem" now is, what media to save them in? They are in Word but that's hardly worthy of a restricted distribution. Perhaps Adobe Acrobat Writer? Does anyone know what might be the best medium? What I want to do is to be able to maintain them (via version control?) and also find a way so that they can't be pilfered but make them easy to navigate and refer to... etc.

Actually Adobe are now easy to manipulate. But about Flash Papers? The macromedia (now adobe too) technology? They are saved as movies are a little bit harder to manipulate.

Hi, Tony,
I think it is about time someone has come up with Genesys guides. Are you thinking about distributing them on fee basis? I know quite a few people who make a living out of them, but the time has come for the fundamental papers to be out open to public. Given the intricate and specialized nature of each call center I don't see why people would worry about the basic papers be out and about, since it will only increase client's comprehension of the subject and thus consultant's ability to sell their services.
What are some of your concerns that you think require having a control of the papers?
Best regards,
Vic
-
I'm really not sure. I think it is in case there is anything fundamentally mis-represented and I need to send out new/revised versions, etc.
I'll work on it and get back to y'all... :)

How about sticking them on a server with a web front end, much like the Genesys support docs section on the support site.
Should not take too long to create (hell I have pretty much unlimited space available on my hosting account) :]

Hi, Tony, Mark,
whatever you decide - count me in. If there is a need for a link or something, by all means :)
It is time we have something readable and easy to digest AND helpful.

Hi Tony and Vic,
I have my notes on Genesys-based development. After having approval from Vic for some specific parts, I can also open them to public via a web site, or this forum.
Regards,
Ali

Hi, Ali,
I don't think you need approval from me unless there is something related to us (and I am not talking about us being half-brothers through our respective mothers' neighbor's daughter's roomate's pet's father's owner's doctor. ;D
-
Vic - did you get my mail? I've considered a few "extras" for each guide, so I guess they are not "final" after all;
[li]A Deployment Rough Guide, as an addendum/annex to the main documents, inculding scoping, sizing, bandwidth and data warehousing, etc.[/li]
[li]Resource references: Genesys BI (!), this Forum, Genesys Labs Support site, etc.[/li]
[li]Typical Business Scenarios.[/li]
What do you think, so far?
Tony

Hi Vic,
I required your approval because I took these notes while working on our projects. Thought that it's better to take a look at before publishing them to public.
Well, if no need to approval, let me edit them first, then I will share with you ;-)

Man this stuff is gold...:o
GOLD I TELLS YA!!! ;D
-
Tony,
May I ask you to sent the guides to my emails.
Thank you in advance :)

Tony,

Pavel

Iam asking as I saw Pavel is updating some guides. Anything else to be done? If interested drop me an email.

Hi Tony,
I think, that pdf is the best media to share on the net...

OK, so next week or so I expect to have something put together, for the first general release. When I do, I'll post it into this thread as a .zip, containing .pdf's. - That's on the understanding that my workload doesn't increase (again!) in the next few days...
Pavel - do you have anything for inclusion? ...any time now would be good. ::) If not, I'll go with what I have.
Watch this space... ;)

Yes, I need these badly as I just started learnign Genesys 7.2 for my new job and I'm a bit confused as how everything ties together. We'll be using the .NET SDKs, so at least I'm familiar with the C# side of things and now it's just a matter of figuring out what all the objects do and what servers are involved.
