Genesys Platform Monitoring
« on: August 04, 2015, 12:28:17 PM »
I am joining a new company very soon and they from what I understand have monitoring in place.

I don't think they will want to pay for Genesys Monitoring, LFMT and SNMP monitoring.  I am not sure if they have Opsview either.

So I was looking to maybe build some sort of monitoring tool.  A pretty webpage showing business critical stats, call volumes, MCP usage, etc etc.

I believe I will have to use the PSDK.

Is it best to use ASP.NET for this?  Or is there something better that I could use to script this and create a webpage?

PSDK exists for Java and for C#, so you can choose from these platforms/languages according to your preferences. BUT, for MCP monitong the PSDK is not working.

Really going to have to a lot of training to get to a level to be able to do this.

Really wanting a dashboard that is centric to our Genesys Environments and something more modern than what we currently have.

I really want it to be a web Dashboard and not a standalone fat client application.

Anyone done this before?  Got any advice in what is best to use?

Working through Java and C# tutuorials.

We don't have GAX and we are unimpressed with GA.

It depends on what exactly do you want achieve and what data exactly collecting. Almost cases can be covered by developing within PSDK, the rest like GVP should be achieve it through another protocols.

Unimpressed? Never saw that as a key to develop ;) maybe not enough gizmos or gifs around? No fancy lights? Lol
Install GAX and try it, no big deal nor license needed

Hi Kubig,  We have a common issue with our TServers connecting to our ACD.  We see constant ISCC errors which need to be monitored.  I would rather have a dashboard focused on that error for all our TServers.  Then our Front Office Team have no excuse for saying they never seen it.

GAX each extension just seemed to add more problems.  Install problems, riddled with performance issues.  We are not at a stage for moving to GAX as yet and until late next year.

Plus flashy lights are awesome and look cool ;D

There is no such tool for what you say. That is an error, to be monitored maybe by SCI alerts or via SNMP

Well it looks like I might end up using ELK then instead of trying this.  Probably the better option.

My main aim was to create a monitoring application for Genesys.  Move away from our contract with another supplier as I think we could do it better and I don't think GA is particularly great as a dashboard.

Well you have a lot of "I think" on your plan. The fact that you don't understand the GA options is a point against you already.

GA Options?  What options are you referring to?  That is a pretty vague statement.

You started the topic saying your new employeer don't wanna expend a dime. You wanna build something from scratch. (For me, even more expensive)
You can do what with PSDK? Do basically the same as SCI/GA already does? If you wanna monitor a specific event occuring on a TServer then SCI/GA already does this via alerts scripts. Then create a Reaction.
So...you expect that a custom develop would know all errors that could possible happen on all your environment? That doesn't happen on real world.
GA is just a client of SCS, so you depend on what SCS can offer. GA/SCI do have options to create reactions...do you know them?

Good luck there
