Unable to restart watchdog
« on: May 26, 2011, 10:28:02 AM »
Hi Guys,

Once i stop the Watchdog process from the Web browser, i am not able to start it again from there. I have to go to the windows services and start it from there. Can anyone please help me out with this?

Thanks,

Please check the settings for your Watchdog in Genesys Administrator/CME (CIM).  Check the Server Name, the full path to the Start and Stop functions and start-up/shut-down command line parameters and ensure they reflect the values you require.

Hi,

I guess that by saying Web Browser you mean the http://<hostname>:9810 and the System Info->Processes Tab right? And that you select Stop next to Watchdog and then Go?

After stopping the Watchdog from there, then you don't get the list of the processes but you are still allowed to click the Processes, MIB Browser etc. So, in the Processes tab you see now the "Start a Custom Process" along with a text box and the Go Button. If you write there "Watchdog" and then press Go then it is expected to start (at least for me it does).

Please let us know if this is what you mean.

Kind Regards,
IF

Hello,

Thanks for the response Guys.
@Tony: We have not saved the configurations in CME, instead we are using GVP.ini for the same. I compared the configurations of this problematic server to the one which is working perfect in production and didn't find any difference.
@IF: The first part is correct. But after watchdog stops, if you open http://<hostname>:9810  again in a new window, you will get a link to start the Watchdog from there. When i click it, watchdog is not starting. But if i go to the host and start watchdog from the services directly, it works perfect and even the web pages refreshes and shows me everything working perfectly. I tried the same thing with one of the production server and there it works fine.

Best regards,
Anshul

Hi,

Can you please send a log of watchdog?
First delete the old watchdog.log and then go to the webpage, try to start from there and then from services.

Kind Regards,
