SIP Server for GVP8
« on: May 12, 2011, 04:01:05 PM »
Hi guys,
I'm planning a deployment for GVP8...still no training but reading all the documentation I can find...
I have a little question, GVP8 says it needs SIP Server, but does it means it has its own SIP Server (as stated on Deployment Guide) or does it means that it needs Genesys SIP Server (with Tserver facilities)??
If second...why?? If I already have a GVP 7.6 deployed with its IVR Server and PBX Tserver why do would I need a SIP Server?
Thanks for any pointers here...

GVP8 is SIP-only solution, so it definitely needs Genesys SIP Server. Also subset of GVP8 components (Resource Manager and Media Control Platform) may be used as Media Server for Genesys SIP Server (in place of Stream Manager, for conferencing, transcoding, etc.).

Well GVP 7.6 also was SIP and no SIP Server was needed at all...
Thanks for the input tho

cavagnaro, you can use stream manager without sip server isn't? ;) i mean case when you can take e.g. asterisk and connect them to stream manager. you can do the same thing with gvp8, it looks like in-front scheme, but without sip server, urs and agents. you can claim that such configuration is unsupported, and it's true. but you can build this ;)

Cav,
in essence Genesys is pushing for a whole SIP-based solution; the integration between GVP and Framework on one side and the gateway on the other is done via SIP Server, so that basically you get back to having GVP working in behind mode, like we used to go for years with a premise IVR :)
You can still try to integrate GVP 8 via IVR TServer & CTI connector without SIP Server (so that GVP looks like deployed in network mode) but this is not how GVP 8 was ideally designed for.
Take a look of the GVP Deployment guide and especially of  VPS 8 Integration guide.

You need SIP server - it is not that difficult to deploy. Resource Manager is optional.

I don't think Cav has any issues in deploying a Genesys app :)

It's not optional in v8.

Yup Fra, already read it all and seems possible but not supported, so if I face any issues I'll probably have issues with support team accepting my requests...

For what I can see I have 2 options:
SIP Server transfer the call to a SIP Routing Point and then invoke GVP
SIP Server transfer the call to GVP and then use a Route Request to transfer to other TServer

Now I have to see how to integrate my Alcatel TServer with SIPServer to do a proper ISCC integration and transfer between them...time to play :)

As Fra says, this is not the problem, I see SIP Server since some time ago without many issues...my question was mainly because of architecture changes over 7.x to 8.x

About RM on GVP 8.x as Fra also says, it is not optional, on 7.x it was.

They should be supporting this integration, as they mention it - I would say, they would not recommend it.

Correct, you should just do a classic multisite integration via ISCC, it shouldn't be hard ;)

Ok, I did it! :D Works fine but I found some "issues"...
1. I integrated my SIP Server with my OXE (2 TServers)
2. Call is received on SIP Server
3. A SIP Server RP targets OXE agents
4. OXE agents receive calls with attached data

Questions:
1. When I put the call on hold the SIP Server music is used...not the OXE one
2. When finish the call SIP Server ACW is used, again, not the OXE settings...

Is there any chance to change this? Or maybe route to an OXE Routing Point instead and let OXE then control that RP?

I'm unsure about how your solution looks like now..
[li]Do you mean you have a SIP trunk between SIP Server and OXE? Is OXE acting just like a gateway or like a separate switch?[/li]
[li]Are your agents SIP Server ones or OXE / TServer ones?[/li]
[li]Do you mean a Stream Manager treatment?[/li]
Yes, a SIP Trunk is used from SIP Server to OXE
My agents are OXE agents only, no DNs on SIP Server, just RP
No StreamManager

Can you please indicate how is your configuration done? Architecture and basically how to sent Attach Data to your PBX TServer?

Thanks!
