Brio Broadcast Server
« on: May 19, 2010, 09:49:09 AM »
Hello,

Is anyone using brio broadcast server?

We currently use another sql reporting software to create genesys reports, and also automate them so they are sent to individuals or distribution groups.

We believe it is a free license?
Is there a requirement for standalone server?
demo available?

Thanks,
WA

Hi,

Brio is very much end of life.  Hyperion is the new Brio... works on pretty much the same principle, though...

If you consider the architecture then your Broadcast Server can co-exist on the same physical Server as your Enterprise Server - and your On Demand and Web Servers, if you like... :)

Broadcast Server is really not much more than a repository of Jobs (Job List) with parameters and outputs for timed events.  In essence it runs a report that you specify, using credentials that you specify, at at time you specify and sends the results in the format you specify, to a location that you specify... The report (.bqy and .oce) is copied up to and held on the Server and run from there, so no need for a client, etc. The outputs range from exports in Excel, .csv, .txt etc. to being able to specify a particular network printer or network file location or, if you have the means, to email the results to somewhere.

Very useful for putting reports on people's desks in time for them to arrive at work... ;)

Haven't seen a demo anywheres though, sorry...
