Hi Everyone (...and Pavel..!),
It's been a while but I have been working in the background to produce the next "layer" to The Rough Guides... Whilst I won't be updating the documents I have already produced, I am in the process of providing a series of Design Specification Templates. "What are they...? What will I be able to do with them...?"
The Design Templates are all based around an existing Genesys Platform (that means you can't use them to design or build a Genesys Platform!) and they are intended to give Business/System/Solution Designers (and perhaps Architects and Developers) a series of checklists which will assist in the scope and detail of a Design (or Development or Architecture) document.
Basically, it breaks down the Framework and the major Solutions into chunks which serve as a reminder/component list when a Designer is scoping a Business Requirement or Problem Statement. It comprises of a series of Excel Worksheets which act firstly as a tick list, then as a technical scoping document, making sure that nothing is missed out when scoping a Solution. The major parts are;
Instructions (!)
Scope
Configuration
Management Framework
Routing (ERS/NRS)
Historical Reporting (CCA and ICON/Infomart)
Real-Time Reporting (CCPulse+ & Informiam)
MCR
WfM
GVP/VGP
SDK's
GPlus Adaptors
TLib
GIS
Peripherals
- My aim is for someone to be able to run through the document and, as a result, determine the scope and size of the Genesys components of a proposed Soluton - and provide the low level detail for the Genesys components, for inclusion in a Detailed Design Document.
It's in "beta" at the moment and once I have a better defined version, I will be looking for volunteers to review and comment on it, before I post it here... I expect it will be ready within the next week or so...
I hope for it to become as popular as the The Rough Guides... since it is written in pretty much the same style, allbeit a little more technically complex...
