Where to start . . .
« on: August 07, 2007, 01:21:15 PM »
I was wondering if anyone could recommend any places to start learning about Genesys and programming applications for it. No real reason for looking into it except it looks interesting and it will expand my field of knowledge. If anyone has any suggestions for this newbie, it would be appreciated.

Ok now back to reading through the articles on the board (very interesting system I must say)

  • Hi, Jadewolf,

programming for Genesys is really not that difficult. Most of the things have been done thousand times over. The problem is that you will need a Genesys environment to program in and basic understanding of how call centers work. If you have both of those, then your next logical step would be to start looking at sample softphone that comes with older Genesys ActiveX - it will pretty much show everything on hwo to control the call and how to attach data to it.

Without Genesys environment though, you might as well give up. This is one part of Genesys that I do not like - despite all their developer programs, I cannot find one where I would be able to get my hands on Genesys environment without promising to give them back 1,000,000 or whatever amount in business. I really wish they would come up with a solution where small startups would have easy access to their environment.

Even Genesys SDK now costs around 20,000 USD...
