Hi,

I don't find any documentation about the required licensing features to use Platform SDK instead of Intercation SDK.

Does somebody has informations on the subject ?

You have touched a very raw nerve with this one for me, because I am furious with Genesys starting to charge for something that offers the same functionality as did t-lib and Genesys ActiveX and used to be free.

Now, you need to:

1. Buy Genesys SDK (USD 20,000 or so)
2. Buy licenses for every seat that will use it
3. Depending on how you will use it, you will need to pay for the "adapter" as well, even though there is NO adapter for Platform SDK.

Overall, it seems like Genesys is still smartening up and trying to figure out how to market the mess they have created by breaking a decent product into sub-categories and trying to license it.  Since you need to use Genesys-provided library for softphone, am I the only one who feels that he is being double-charged by paying for Framework licenses first per seat and then on top of that being charged additional XXX amount (I guess it is about 500 or so per seat) for connecting to T-Server?  Doesn't framework license cover it it??? After all, how are you going to get a popup without connecting to tserver? It is like buying a ticket for a bus and then being asked to pay for the gas and driver seperately!!!

Hi Vic,

I have a good message for you (and for the others too ;)). It seems there is the free replacement for T-Lib SDK available which can be used for Voice only Agent Desktop integrations. The name of this SDK is Voice Agent Platform SDK 7.5. I haven't "touch" it yet so it is everything I know for now.

Cheers,
René

Rene!!! Thank you!!!

Why in the world did Genesys Japan force us and our client buy SDK?!!! Bastards!!!

We are developijng our own application server which would allow users to connect to Genesys without the need of installing Genesys T-Lib/SDK on their PCs...

Vic,

I would say that such integration - development of an application server - won't be possible using mentioned "free" SDK. It seems to me that Genesys took standard Voice Platform SDK (just my idea, not confirmed) and renamed it to Voice Agent Platform SDK to be able to restrict the licensing policy for this free SDK for agent desktop integration only. Any other integration = you have to buy Platform SDK + connectors (adaptors).

Ok, so, we can use this tlib for developing softphones, but we cannot use the same tlib for developing a server?
Gotcha! :)

Maybe I'm wrong but it's my interpretation of following Genesys' statement: "This SDK (Voice Agent Platform SDK) is the free replacement for any T-Lib SDK (base T-Lib, ActiveX Desktop toolkit, Java Desktop toolkit) but can only be used for Voice only Agent Desktop integrations. Any other type of integration must obtain the appropriate runtime connector licenses and potentially the Universal SDK"
