Oracle have bought Hyperion
« on: March 02, 2007, 09:29:57 AM »
For those like and\or love Hyperion BI (Brio to old foggies like me) it looks like things are changing as Oracle have just spent $3.3 Billion on them.

Hi, Pavel,

so they are trying to attack SAP again, because I remember that many of SAP users use Hyperion for their business performance reporting. How do you think it will affect Genesys Reporting package? I am a bit curious because before it was a third-party application, but now it is going to have Oracle logo on it, so imagine accessing SQL Server datamart with it. I am sure it will work, but just have never really had an Oracle tool used on SQL server before. And the headache associated with its support!!!  :-\

Simple - ICON/InfoMart is based on an output designed for a Business Objects Universe and BO Reports out of the box, not Hyperion/Brio.

And then, as the King in the "King and I" said; [glow=green,2,300]"et cetera, et cetera, et cetera..."[/glow]

I can't understand a word of what you have wrote!!!

But, then again, why should I be surprised? :P

[glow=pink,2,300]But what does this purchase mean for an average user?[/glow]

Look you, I don't speak Welsh either, innit?

OK - afaik, Brio is not the way forwards for Genesys ICON/InfoMart.  It's Business Objects.  Now, how that relates to what "us Users" will need to do is more than likely a conversion process from Brio to BO.  Having looked at the newer Hyperion Server, against the Brio Enterprise Server/On Demand Server/Broadcast Server, either way (Brio>Hyperion or Brio>Business Objects) is going to be an uphill climb.

That's what I was saying!  ;D

As a staunch defender of Brio\Hyperion (I know it well) it would be a shame to see it stopped getting supplied. Not that it is going to happen in the near future.
