Best way to do an export from CME utility this will create a file in .SQL format. (With this you can rebuild your tables, we do this on a regular basis)

Ok, I think I was not very clear with my question.
I am more thinking about real ime backup configuration.
I think a good example would be stat server, where you could have more than one stat server running at the same time, and you can define one as a backup of another, thus, if one fails, IR would automatically start using a backup one.

Is there some kind of similar functionality with config server? I need ensure that when one config server fails, CCP and other products would still be able to start by automatically switching to the backup config server. Is it possible?

Hello, Vic. How are you? You will need at least 5.1.51xxx configuration server and a Gproxy. I have heard stories about being able to run hotstandby configuration server without a Gproxy, but I could never replicate it.

CS 6.1 supports synchronized backup.

To use this feature the applications have to integrate the CS library and have to call:
ConfGetConfServerDBID to retrieve primary CS DBID
ConfGetConfServerBackupDBID to retrieve backup CS DBID

You are one hundred percent correct. With 6.1 it is realy easy to get it to work.
The problem is 5.xxx version. What can be done about this version?

The best way to implement config server backup is to install two NT server enterprise edition with ms cluster service
After that you have to install on each machine db server and config
server as a NT service, and then you must configure the cluster service to backup config server service

Ok, I was able to get two confiservers to run together from the same DB with one running as primary and second starting as a backup.

I think there was a bug with previous config servers or maybe my config was wrong... With 6.1.006 config server, I was able to get the whole thing running without a glitch.

    Thanks for everyone's support!
